What's an identikit?

definition:

A series of transparent strips, each one showing a different typical facial feature, from which it is possible to put together an impression or rough picture of a criminal or suspect from witnesses' descriptions.
Etymology: 1950s: invented by H C McDonald (a police officer born 1913).
